How do I sync files between computers?

If you have multiple computers on the same local network, syncing  between them is very easy. All you have to do is install the Syncables Desktop or Syncables 360 application on your computers, and register each computer with the same Syncables Account. You will need to install Syncables Desktop or Syncables 360 on each computer you want to sync with:

To start the sync process:

 

  1. If you already have a copy of Syncables Desktop or Syncables 360 installed on one of your computers, please reference the “How can I install Syncables Desktop/Syncables 360 on my other computers?” section.
  2. If you don’t have Syncables Desktop or Syncables 360 installed on any of your computers, start by downloading and installing the applications from our website. The Syncables desktop application is available for Windows only. The Syncables 360 application is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Ubuntu Linux computers. 10-day trial versions of both applications are also available on our website.
  3. When running the application setup on your computer, you will be prompted to enter your login information or create a new account. You only need one account to sync your files across computers.
    • If you haven't created an account already, select the radio button next to Create Account and enter the appropriate information in the associated text fields. This will be the account you'll use when you install the Syncables Desktop or Syncables 360 application on your other computers.
    • If you've already created your account, enter your email and password information to sign in.
  4. As part of the sign in process each computer will be registered with your Syncables Account (if they haven’t already). Note: The maximum number of computers you can register with your account is dependent on the type of license you have. So, for example, if you have a 3-computer license, you can only register up to 3 computers with the same Syncables Account.
  5. Once you have registered and setup the sync library on each computer, you'll notice that the computers will appear when you click on the SHARED COMPUTERS menu on the left side of the application.  You can now browse the content of the sync library of your other computers and choose the items you want to sync. Alternatively, you can use the Task Assistant wizards located on the application home page to sync items between your computers.
